April 29, 2021
Due to the topographic differentiation, the weather changes in different parts of Central Vietnam. Thus, when is the right time to visit Central Vietnam becomes one of the most commonly asked questions to tourists. Let us help you answer the question with this article.
Despite the differences in weather, there are two main seasons: a dry season and a wet season. This is very different from Nothern Vietnam where there is a cold winter.

The dry season takes place from March to August, whilst the wet season takes place from September to February. In the dry season, the weather is very hot and sunny. It peaks between June and August, with the highest temperature reaching more than 40°C. However, in the following months, there are a lot of tropical storms coming with frequent heavy rain. It is not recommended to travel here from October onwards when many tourist attractions are flooded.
The ideal time to visit Hue is from January to February or from August to September. During these times, the weather is cool and bright with a light ray of sunshine. What’s more, during September, you might be able to catch a glimpse of beautiful purple Crepe myrtle blossom or streets full of yellow Phoenix flowers.

However, if you wish to have a beach holiday, the recommended time is from April to July. There are various appealing beaches like Lang Co or Thuan An to visit, and you may also catch sea creatures with the locals and enjoy Hue’s amazing cuisine. Don’t forget to join the national Hue Festival to find out more about the cultural aspects of the city.

If you wish to visit the coastal areas of Thanh Hoa, it is best to go in the summer, from April to August. The hot and sunny weather at this time is extremely suitable for dipping in the water of beaches like Sam Son or Hai Tien. However, keep in mind that from June to August there can be storms sometimes.

The higher areas of Thanh Hoa share borders with the Northwest so they have some similar weather features. From April to June or from September to November are usually the best time to visit these places as there is not much rain.
The dry season in the South Central Coast area comes earlier. It starts in January and ends in August. The temperature is as high as the North Central, about 40°C at max. This is the place with the most rainfall in Vietnam and often suffer frequent storms due to its coastal location. Despite that, South Central Coast is still one of the most popular tourist destinations in Vietnam.
The good time to visit Da Nang is between April and August. It is summer and the weather is hot and sunny, which is perfect for those who want to admire world-famous beaches like My Khe or Non Nuoc Beach. The other months are in the wet seasons which means a lot of rain and mist, making it inconvenient to go sightseeing or swimming in the ocean.

This area has recently attracted many tourists for its cool and fresh weather. The average temperature fluctuates around 20°C to 25°C in daylight and drops even lower when the night comes. The wet season in Central Highlands lasts for 5 months, from May to October. It rains a lot so it is, of course, very wet and the roads get very slippery. Many tourists avoid Central Highlands during this time.
Da Lat actually has its unique beauty each season. Mornings in Da Lat are often chilly and misty and the air is much fresher than in the big cities.
For those who want to experience the cold of Da Lat, we suggest going here between October and December which is Da Lat’s dry season and also the coldest time. October and November are especially nice because it is the season of blossom. There are different flowers to admire, take pictures with such as buckwheat flowers, and enjoy the view of the famous hills of pink grass.

Da Lat is often packed with tourists between May and September. Even though it is the wet season with much rain, people still visit Da Lat to get away with the burning heat since it is summer in other parts of the country. Since it’s the rain season, include the wonderful Pongour Waterfall in your plan as there is more water in the waterfall.

People often go to Buon Ma Thuat in March as there are many activities to take part in. Enjoy the sight and smell of the pure white coffee flower and join cultural events like the famous annual Ban Don Elephant Race Festival. You can also choose December to see buckwheat blossom, though it is not as remarkable as it is in Ha Giang and Da Lat.
