Itinerary

After arriving in Lao Cai early in the morning (by night train the day before) and transferring to Sapa, the journey begins in Lao Chai Village, nestled within the Muong Hoa Valley. Surrounded by the Hoang Lien Son Range and Ham Rong Mountain, this area is home to the Black H’Mong ethnic group.

Walking trails pass terraced rice fields, small streams, and traditional houses, offering insight into local daily life. A highlight of the day is the Batik workshop, where travelers observe and practice traditional wax-dye techniques used on H’Mong costumes, guided by local artisans.

The trek continues toward Ta Van Village, home to the Giay ethnic group. Lunch is served at a local restaurant before settling into a homestay for dinner and overnight stay. Evenings here are quiet and intimate, marked by warm hospitality and the rhythm of village life.

The second day opens with a transfer to Ma Tra Village, another H’Mong community surrounded by open valleys and layered rice terraces. The trek leads through fields of cabbage, artichoke, and mountain trails where nature unfolds slowly and peacefully.

Arriving in Ta Phin Village, travelers meet the Red Dao people, known for their embroidered clothing and extensive herbal knowledge. Their traditions remain deeply connected to the surrounding forests and mountains.

After the trek, guests enjoy a traditional Dao herbal bath, soaking in warm wooden tubs infused with medicinal herbs collected locally. This experience is believed to relieve muscle fatigue, improve circulation, and restore energy after a day of walking.

The afternoon ends with a return to Ta Van for dinner and another night at the homestay, surrounded by the calm of the highlands.

The final day balances leisure and adventure. After a relaxed morning, travelers head to Sun World Fansipan Legend. The journey to the summit includes a funicular ride followed by a cable car ascent, offering sweeping views over mountains and valleys.

At 3,143 meters, Fansipan Peak presents a dramatic highland atmosphere. Visitors explore spiritual structures such as pagodas, the Quan The Am statue, and the national flagpole, while enjoying cloud-hunting moments and panoramic scenery.

The afternoon allows free time in Sapa town before dinner in Lao Cai and boarding the night train back to Hanoi, marking the end of a journey rich in landscapes, culture, and human connection.

Reviews

"We had a wonderful time in Sapa. The villages Lao Chai, Ta Van are very peaceful and the people are very friendly. The rice terraces views were phenomenal. In the first day we tried Batik Drawing in Lao Chai... such an amazing experience. On day 2, we hiked for about 7km in the villages of Ma Tra and Ta Phin, ended with a herbal bath session... very refreshing and healing... The final day we came to the mount fansipan, weather was perfect for taking pictures... ERA team did a great job organizing our tour. Meals, homestays, guides and transportation were all perfect.
